First Drafts AKA The Stupid Stuff I Dumped!

First Script!
A half-figure shot from the front of a middle-aged, well dressed man, reclined in a chair and looking very serious. He strokes his chin with the back of his fingers, clearly upset, and looks off to the side.

“She had friends who were…”
He takes a deep breath and covers his eyes with his hand.
“... socialists.”

Cut to full scene shot of him and his three very stylish friends seated around a small table on a balcony facing the ocean circa 1950, one woman drinking a martini, and two men smoking cigars. All gasp in amazement and horror. One of the men takes his cigar from his mouth to say in disbelief,
“My God.”
His impressive moustache bobs as he speaks.
Which I ditched, because I can't have all those details in there anyway, I just don't have time to model all that stuff.

So, I peeled away pretty much everything and came up with this extremely simple animatic of a man, clearly broken, lamenting socialism. And as much as I'd like to just animate his expressions and nothing else, I need something more in there. It's TOO simple, the camera is too static, and I do want a few props in there to add some flavour. Animatic number 2 never made it, I deleted it in a fit of rage. It included far too many dramatic camera sweeps and close-ups. So third time's the charm, I suppose!
